In a move that reshapes the school bus transportation industry in the Northeast, New England Transit Sales, Inc. (NETS) and W.C. Cressey & Son officially merged on June 1, 2025, to form New England Transit LLC.
Leveraging its combined expertise as a school bus dealer group, the merger gives New England Transit broader geographic coverage, expanded service capabilities, and the ability to provide innovative financing options for school districts across the Northeast.
New England Transit LLC will operate with two subsidiaries:
W.C. Cressey, Inc. (Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont)
New England Transit Sales, Inc. (Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Rhode Island)
Since 1979, W.C. Cressey & Son operated as a family-run Thomas Built Buses dealer offering school bus sales, service, leasing, and parts. With 21 employees, the company operates multiple service centers and provides on-site repair, vehicle transport, and parts delivery across the Northeast.
Founded in 1977, NETS is a top school bus dealer based in Tyngsboro, Massachusetts, offering sales, service, parts, and graphics. A longtime Thomas Built Buses partner, NETS was named 2023 Dealer of the Year and is backed by a 35-person team with 100+ years of combined experience.
Merger Strengthens Operations and Customer Commitment
The leadership teams of W.C. Cressey & Son and NETS will remain involved in day-to-day operations, and all existing employees and locations will be maintained in the new organization.
“This merger represents an exciting new chapter for both NETS and W.C. Cressey & Son,” said George Logan, president and chief executive officer of NETS. “By combining our resources and expertise, we can deliver even greater service and support to our customers while opening doors for future growth.”
“Our companies share a deep commitment to our customers and employees, and this partnership strengthens our ability to serve them,” Brian Cressey, president of W.C. Cressey & Son, added. “By uniting our companies, we’re building a stronger foundation to better serve school districts and provide new opportunities for our employees.”
“New England Transit represents an impressive union between two leaders in the school bus industry,” said Daoud Chaaya, vice president of Sales, Aftermarket, and Marketing at Thomas Built Buses. “As valued partners of Thomas Built Buses, they share a focus on delivering a first-class customer experience. In joining forces, they’ve strengthened their ability to provide exceptional service and support for Thomas Built Buses’ products and customers. We look forward to continuing our valued relationship with this remarkable team.”
