Illinois-based contractor North America Central School Bus (NACSB) announced a transition in its executive leadership. After more than 30 years of service to the student transportation industry and over a decade at the company, president and CEO Steve Hemmerlein has retired.
Jason Walker, who joined NACSB as chief operating officer in August 2024, will become president and CEO. Walker brings 28 years of experience in transportation logistics, including 22 years at UPS. Most recently, he served as COO of United Road Services.
"I am thrilled to lead the dedicated team at North America Central School Bus, where our unwavering commitment to safety, customer engagement, and employee development drives us forward," Walker said. "We are honored to be an integral part of the educational journey of our students and the districts we serve, and we look forward to continuing our mission with passion and excellence."
Founded in 2004, North America Central School Bus is North America's fifth largest student transportation provider, operating over 5,700 school buses and employing over 6,200.
