Denver-based School Bus Logistics’ routing communication solution, RouteHub, now boasts a new feature to enhance student safety by monitoring and addressing behavioral issues on the bus. The tool’s upgradelets drivers log behavioral incidents in real-time onto the portal, allowing school staff to receive instant reports and address concerns before they escalate.
Reportable incidents include bullying, disturbing others, littering, fighting, using their phones inappropriately, insubordination, smoking or vaping, sticking their heads and hands out the window, habitual lateness, unsafe loading, vandalism, and yelling or using obscene language.
To create a report, drivers just need to upload information to the portal using their smartphone. It will then appear in RouteHub, and administrators can request video footage. The tool will then track when the incident is handled and resolved, and a behavior plan is put in place.
“The addition of this feature is a much-needed enhancement that will streamline communication between drivers, administrators, and schools, enabling quicker response times and more effective resolutions,” says Greg Jackson, director of business development at School Bus Logistics. “Real-time reporting allows transportation teams to address incidents before they escalate, ensuring the safety and well-being of students. In my experience, this kind of innovation is exactly what districts need to improve accountability, efficiency, and overall service.”
