7 School Districts Win Zonar, NAPT Don Carnahan Memorial Grants
More than $140,000 in smart fleet management hardware will be awarded to school districts in California, Indiana, Colorado, Montana, Michigan, and Ohio.

Smart fleet technology supplier Zonar and the National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) have announced the seven recipients of the 2020 Don Carnahan Memorial Grant.
These school districts will each receive up to $50,000 in donations of Zonar’s smart fleet management hardware and student tracking technology, totaling to more than $140,000, according to a news release from the company.
Visalia (Calif.) Unified School District
New Albany-Floyd County (Ind.) Consolidated School Corp.
Morgan County (Colo.) School District RE-3
Laurel (Mont.) Public Schools
Twinsburg (Ohio) City School District
Bloomfield Hills (Mich.) School District
Zeeland (Mich.) Public Schools
Solutions covered by the grant include student tracking (Z Pass), Electronic Verified Inspection Reporting (EVIR), Zonar Coach, global position system and real-time engine diagnostic reporting (V4), and Ground Traffic Control web-based software.
"We want to ensure buses are equipped with the latest safety technology available to not only keep children safe, but also the passenger vehicles and families school buses share the roads with,” said H. Kevin Mest, senior vice president of passenger services at Zonar. “Now more than ever, school districts need resources. We’re excited to be the foundation of their school bus safety and to be able to provide the technology they need to implement new safety best practices in this unprecedented time.”
