ANNAPOLIS, Md. — The newly formed School Transportation Group of Student Transportation Inc. (STI) has acquired Maryland contractor Annapolis Bus Co..

The deal adds more than 125 vehicles to STI’s fleet, along with annual revenue of about $8.5 million. Also, Maryland is a new state for STI, which the company said provides an opportunity to grow and build regional density in the Mid-Atlantic region.

Patrick Vaughan, president of STI's School Transportation Group, called Annapolis Bus Co. “a well-respected family business that has a great reputation in the Annapolis, Maryland, area, providing safe and reliable school and local transportation for many years."

Joining the STI team are Annapolis Bus Co.’s Ross Cohen, his two sons, and his team of management, drivers, and technicians.

“They fit very well with our family culture, our emphasis on safety, and providing great local service,” Vaughan said.

The school district that Annapolis Bus Co. contracts with, Anne Arundel County Public Schools, has approved the transfer of the contract. The company also provides transportation service for various charter and private schools in the Annapolis area.

"We are glad to have closed this transaction just at the official start of the school year so we can get a full year of operations under the new contract,” Vaughan added. “Ross and I are confident that there will be a smooth transition and nice start to the school year.”
