STI honors employees with appreciation week

The school bus contractor designates April 23-27 as Employee Appreciation Week to recognize drivers, dispatchers and mechanics for their dedication to service and commitment to safety. Company-wide celebratory events are scheduled throughout the week, and Chairman and CEO Denis J. Gallagher expresses his appreciation in a video to employees.

In this year’s showcase, regional managers and executives for some of North America’s largest school bus contractors discuss the biggest changes they have seen in their area in recent years.

Student Transportation wins 4 new contracts

Two of the contracts are for operations in Connecticut, and the others are for operations in New Hampshire. Officials say the Connecticut contracts will add over $4.6 million in annualized revenues, while the New Hampshire agreements will add approximately $4.3 million in annualized revenues.

Student Transportation awarded 2 new contracts

Officials for the company and its subsidiary Student Transportation of Canada Inc. say the contracts, which are each for five years, will add approximately 200 vehicles, $9 million Canadian in revenue on an annualized basis and include fuel price mitigation clauses.

Student Transportation honored for anti-bullying efforts

The school bus contractor is named 2011 Company of the Year by the nonprofit organization Unique Gifted Loveable You. Student Transportation Inc.'s bullying prevention training programs, which include having drivers maintain a positive bus environment, helped the company earn the accolade.

Student Transportation acquires N.J. bus company

The contractor has acquired Safe Start Transportation, which has provided home-to-school student transportation services to the North Central region of the state. Officials say the fleet comprises fewer than 200 vehicles.

STA offers discount on magnet bus service

The contractor offers the discount on its SchoolWheels program to families in Jacksonville, Fla., whose children attend magnet schools within Duval County Public Schools. The discount price applies for the remainder of the 2011-12 school year and comes to $5.48 per day, or $559 total.

Student Transportation boosts efficiency, business with cloud technology

With independenceIT’s Total Freedom Workspace, a cloud-based information technology infrastructure, officials say the school bus contractor allocates less than 1 percent of revenues to its information technology operations. In addition, the company can incorporate nearly 50 business applications into the cloud infrastructure, and it helps to streamline mergers and acquisitions, as well as audits.

Student Transportation adds 700 vehicles in Wis. acquisition

The contractor expands into Wisconsin by acquiring Dairyland Bus Inc. and related companies, also adding more than $36 million in annualized revenues and five locations. Executive Mike Pjevach and his team will join Student Transportation Inc.
