Los Angeles district buys Thomas Built CNG units

The 130 Saf-T-Liner HDX buses will join Los Angeles Unified School District’s fleet of more than 300 alternative-fueled school buses. The district’s transportation department, which currently operates the largest CNG fleet in California, only accepts bids for buses that operate on alternative fuels.

Industry veteran honored for alternative-fuel efforts

Ralph Knight, transportation director for Napa (Calif.) Valley Unified School District, receives the Alternative Fuel Vehicle Institute’s Magic School Bus Award for implementing alternative-fuel use at his operation. The district was the first in the nation to receive Collins' Type A hybrid-electric school bus.
