To lessen shortage, district lets attendants take a test-drive

Humble (Texas) Independent School District invited its bus attendants to take part in a ride-and-drive event, allowing them to try driving a school bus in the safety of a large parking lot. Nearly all the attendants who participated have decided to start training to become school bus drivers.

Proposed Florida bill would increase bus passing penalties

Gabby’s Law for School Bus Stop Safety is named after 12-year-old Gabby Mair, who was fatally struck by a car after deboarding her school bus in 2010. The bill would increase the severity of charges for passing a bus on the boarding side and increase fines.
