IC Bus Tulsa plant rewarded for energy efficiency

The school bus manufacturer receives an incentive payment for nearly $150,000 for retrofitting its Tulsa plant with high-efficiency lighting. Officials estimate that the new lighting at the IC Bus plant will save more than 1.5 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.

App provides alternative fuel station location data

The Cleaner and Greener Fuels app from Leonardo Academy is available for download free of charge from the iTunes app store, the Google Play store and the Cleaner and Greener website. It provides routes to stations on a series of interactive maps for such fuels as compressed natural gas, biodiesel, propane and electricity.

Trans Tech eTrans goes on N.Y. tour

The manufacturer's all-electric bus makes a stop at the Empire State Plaza in Albany on Thursday for a government VIP and media ride-along. Officials say the bus, which features an electric chassis from Smith Electric Vehicles, has a trip range of approximately 120 to 130 miles per charge and produces zero emissions.

IC Bus announces expanded 2012 training schedule

Sessions for the manufacturer's IC Bus University will be held during the weeks of June 25, July 9, July 23, Aug. 6 and Aug. 20, and will cover such topics as engines, bus electrical and bus maintenance. IC Bus is also offering an Advanced IC Bus University that will focus on advanced diagnostics.

Electric school buses to be manufactured for China

Smith Electric Vehicles Corp. signs a letter of intent with Wanxiang Group that includes a joint venture investment of up to $75 million to develop, manufacture and commercialize all-electric school buses and commercial vehicles for multiple industries in the country. The vehicles will combine Wanxiang’s EV componentry technologies with Smith’s proprietary platform vehicle designs.
