Guangdong Tongan Automobile Rental Service's 16 buses reportedly meet the country's new safety and technical standard for school buses, and the number of buses is expected to grow to 1,000 by the end of the year. District launches new bus evacuation training effort

The transportation staff at Maine School Administrative District #37 in Harrington incorporates side window emergency exit evacuation into its training following an accident wherein the rear exit of a bus became unusable. Director of Transportation Dawn Coffin tells SBF that the bus drivers learned safe techniques for this type of evacuation, and the district hopes to begin the training with students in the upcoming school year.

NTSB calls for nationwide ban on driver use of electronics

Bus stop arm, flashing lights no longer required in city's school zones

The city of Wetaskiwin in Alberta changes its traffic bylaw so that bus drivers are no longer required to activate their bus' emergency flashing lights or extend the stop arm in a school bus zone located on or adjacent to school grounds within the city limits. Drivers are still required to use stop arms and lights in all other areas.
