The Minnesota Court of Appeals upholds the 24 counts against Olga Franco del Cid, who is serving a 12 ½-year prison sentence for running a stop sign and striking the side of a school bus in 2008, killing four students and injuring 17 others. Arguments on appeal made by the woman’s attorney were rejected by the three-judge panel.

Crew honored for extinguishing bus fire

The men receive the North Carolina Department of Transportation’s Extra Mile Award for their actions in June. The bus had been traveling on the opposite side of the road when they saw smoke coming out from under its hood. After the bus pulled over, the men put out the fire while the bus driver evacuated the 19 students on board.
