Unified School District Director of Transportation Timothy Purvis tells SBF that the district is on track to save this much by the end of the school year through his efforts to assign regular-route bus drivers to transport students during weekday night field trips, and through the Flexible Route Driver program. Under the program, three drivers make themselves available at all times during seven-day periods to work on field trips and serve as substitute drivers.
