Onboard footage shows the vehicle being lifted into the air before it was flung into a diner during a tornado in Henryville last month. In the video, driver Angel Perry can be heard providing instructions to students on board and safely evacuating them before the tornado hits the bus.

School bus companies insured by Safety, Claims and Litigation Services LLC will receive the Driver Training Course by School Bus Safety Co. as part of a loss control services package. Officials from the firm say they feel that using the course will make children safer while reducing the cost of risk to customers.

Blue Bird honors 35-year school bus driver

Earl Rineer, 89, receives a plaque at the manufacturer's headquarters for his dedication to public service and transporting students. Rineer works as a bus driver and trainer for Sague Bus Service in Pennsylvania, and he says he’ll continue working as long as he passes the medical requirements.

Mich. bill calls for lower rear bus lights

The mother of two teens killed when their car crashed into a school bus speaks to Michigan lawmakers about legislation that would add a new, lower level of bright flashing rear lights to new school buses. If passed, the legislation would be called the Privacky Law, after the two crash victims.

District’s pickup policy to include student bus bans

The Winston-Salem/Forsyth County school board votes unanimously to adopt a new policy to issue warnings to parents who do not meet their pre-K through first-grade children at the bus stop as required. A sixth incident will result in the child being banned from the school bus for the remainder of the school year.

Survivors of ’72 bus crash gather for remembrance

The March 24, 1972, crash remains the worst school bus accident in New York history. Five teens were killed as Joseph Larkin attempted to drive the bus across a railroad crossing as a train was coming. Survivors say that Larkin tried to outrun the train because he was late.
