The proposal, which comes after an agreement could not be reached to require the state's school districts to take over operation of their bus systems, will undergo a procedural vote before heading to the state Senate for consideration.

Senate Republican Leader Bob Huff, who authored the bill, says it would have “provided a new and needed source of funding for our schools at no cost to taxpayers.”
