Versatrans Solutions to undergo leadership change
Doug Hamlin will step down as president of the student transportation software provider in February 2011. The move is part of a long-term strategy to transfer the ownership and leadership responsibilities of Versatrans, which was acquired by Tyler Technologies in 2008.
DALLAS — Tyler Technologies Inc.’s Versatrans Solutions line of business will welcome a new president next year. 2010 will be Versatrans Solutions President Doug Hamlin’s final year with Tyler Technologies. Hamlin will be succeeded by James Guzewich, COO and CFO of Tyler’s Versatrans Solutions, in February 2011.
Tyler acquired Versatrans, a provider of student transportation software and services, in 2008 as an investment in the K-12 education market. Hamlin’s departure is part of a long-term strategy to transfer ownership and leadership responsibilities. The decision to announce Hamlin’s departure more than a year ahead of time was made to ensure full communication of Versatrans’ future direction to both Tyler employees and clients, the company said.
In 2011, Hamlin will step down after more than 11 years as president of Versatrans and more than 28 years with the company. Hamlin joined Versatrans as a software developer in 1983, became vice president in 1998, president in 2000 and was named CEO in 2002.
“I continue to love and respect Versatrans and am very pleased with the transition to Tyler. In 2011, the time will be right for me to pursue the next chapter of my professional career,” Hamlin said.
Guzewich has been employed at Versatrans for more than seven years. He was chosen to succeed Hamlin as president because of his drive for Versatrans to succeed; his desire to maintain and improve upon the Versatrans tradition of integrity, client satisfaction, and quality products and services; and his understanding of the culture, values, and business processes for which Tyler and Versatrans stand, the company said.
