Tyler Technologies has completed the purchase of a new site for its transportation solutions operation.

The building at 11 Cornell Road in Latham, New York, will house Tyler’s growing team that provides K-12 transportation technology, including Versatrans, Traversa, and Tyler Drive, the company’s newest mobile solution for school bus drivers.

The facility is the former headquarters of the New York State Nurses Association in the Airport Park office complex near the Albany International Airport. The 43,000-square-foot structure was built in 1994 and is in need of some repairs and upgrades. It will include such features as:

• An open design with collaborative spaces conducive for software development
• Numerous skylights and large windows to allow for natural lighting
• A campus-like atmosphere with four office areas and a 10,000-square-foot conference center
• Two interior courtyards and a 10-acre wooded lot

Tyler’s renovations will include updates to the building’s mechanical systems, removing interior walls to further enhance the open feeling of the building, an employee exercise facility, and covering one of the courtyards to create a four-season atrium.

Once Tyler takes up official residence in the building in late 2017, the company plans to re-open the space’s conference center, which includes a 200-seat stadium-style meeting room, four conference rooms, and a 40-seat board room.

Tyler entered the K-12 transportation market in 2008 via the acquisition of Versatrans Solutions. Since then, the transportation staff has nearly doubled in size, and revenues have more than tripled, according to Tyler. The company reportedly added almost 200 new school districts as clients in 2016.

In the past five years, Tyler’s local office has grown from 70 to 110 people, and the company plans to hire 15 positions for the Latham office in 2017.

“There is amazing talent in the Capital District, and we are committed to hiring exceptional people locally,” said Ted Thien, vice president and general manager for Tyler’s transportation group. “The building is exactly what we needed to support our current growth, and the renovations will create space for approximately 175 people.”
