CHASKA, Minn. — Public television program MotorWeek did a recent segment on a Minnesota school bus fleet that is transitioning to propane.
According to the MotorWeek Clean Cities Success Stories spot, Eastern Carver County Schools has started a "slow but steady process" of replacing more than 100 diesel school buses with propane-powered units.

The show's host, John Davis, reports that although the new propane buses cost more to purchase, they yielded fuel cost savings of $60,000 last year.
Eastern Carver County Schools' transportation coordinator, John Thomas, was interviewed for the show.
"I think we have a great fleet here that’s making progress for the environment, it’s saving money for the school district so we can keep the money in the classrooms, and we’re being a little progressive," Thomas says in the segment.
Eastern Carver County Schools partnered with Student Transportation of America and its local affiliate Positive Connections for the propane project.
At its annual rally, the organization spotlighted propane and electric school bus advancements while recognizing leaders driving forward-looking student transportation.
