Trans/Air Manufacturing Corp. has unveiled a new rooftop unit product line as well as a new climate control system and a stainless steel skirt mount condenser.
The TA17 C-5 Transit Style Climate Control System is designed to meet the requirements of 30-foot to 40-foot rear engine school buses, transit and tour buses in severe-duty applications. When paired with a 655cc transit compressor, the system can yield 111kilowatts (SAE)/171kilowatts (IMACA) BTU/hr, according to the company.
The TA17 evaporator is constructed with heavy-duty materials and has 24-volt heavy-duty motors and large diameter blower wheels mounted outboard to inject air directly into the ducts. The C-5 condenser features five high performance axial fans with a corrosion-resistant coil. Controls are fully functional with digital cabin set point. The 655cc transit style compressor is equipped with an un-loader, transit clutch, and high- and low-pressure switches. The TA17 can be equipped with an optional R120 rooftop condenser, is compatible with all OEM-supplied ducts, and also can be mounted in freeblow configuration.

Additionally, the new TA-20 Rooftop product line features rooftop units characterized by powerful cooling capacity as well as a distinctive aerodynamic design, according to the supplier. Rated at 34K BTU/hr, the TA-20 product line is ideal for a variety of applications, including Type A school buses, small commercial buses, and work vans such as Sprinter, ProMaster and Ford Transit, company officials said.
The rooftop units feature an aluminum body encased by UV-protected ABS acrylic cover and evaporator blowers oriented to support center aisle ducting or freeblow air distribution with maximum air flow. The TA-20 can be configured as a tie-in or super system and is available with optional heat and electronic controls, according to the supplier.
