Evie Wills spent three decades in the bus business, starting with her family company and ending with Rohrer Bus Sales. With her retirement, Mike David steps into her role.

DUNCANNON, Pa. — After more than three decades of selling buses, Evie Wills is ready to retire.

Wills has worked for Rohrer Bus Sales in Pennsylvania for the past six years, but her career dates to 1987, when she joined her family’s bus business.

Wills Equipment Co. was a longtime Thomas Built Buses dealer in Mt. Holly, New Jersey. Evie Wills came aboard as part of her family’s third generation in the business. She recalled that after spending one day selling buses, she knew it was the right fit, and she worked hard to uphold her grandfather and father’s legacy — while having fun in the process.

When Wills Equipment Co. closed in the 1990s, Evie Wills went on to represent a variety of bus manufacturers with different distributors in New Jersey, selling commercial buses as well as school buses.

In 2012, a new opportunity came for Wills by way of Skip Rohrer, president of Rohrer Bus Sales. The Duncannon, Pennsylvania-based business was founded in the early 1920s when Howard Rohrer Sr. began transporting schoolchildren with his horse and wagon. Today, the company still provides transportation service while also selling and servicing Thomas Built school buses, commercial buses, and vans.

Wills accepted Rohrer’s offer to join the company, for which she covered southeast Pennsylvania. It was new sales territory for the New Jersey native, but she said that the client base was immediately welcoming to her.

Now, Wills is slated to retire on May 31. Notably, she capped her career in the same way she started it: with a multigenerational family business that represents Thomas Built Buses.

At Rohrer Bus Sales, Skip Rohrer said that he and the rest of the company will miss Wills and her dedication to the bus business.

“It was truly a pleasure working with Evie, as she was very customer focused, providing an unmatched level of commitment to making sure her customers were taken care of,” Rohrer said.

For her part, Wills expressed her appreciation for the Rohrer team and her customers in Pennsylvania.

“I would like to thank Skip, the entire staff at Rohrer Bus Sales, and most of all the hardworking, conscientious school bus operators in the commonwealth with whom I had the pleasure to work,” she said.

With Wills’ retirement, Mike David stepped into her role at Rohrer Bus Sales on May 1, managing all sales activity in southeast Pennsylvania. That includes facilitating and documenting sales, sustaining and growing customer relationships, and maintaining account profiles and activity.

David comes to Rohrer Bus with more than 20 years of experience with commercial vehicles. He started with a Freightliner dealer at age 18 and worked his way up to selling vehicle parts. In 2003, David took a position as a territory manager for a Thomas Built Buses dealer. After a few job changes, he returned to the same dealership as sales manager and led his team in reportedly increasing their market share by nearly 50%.

David said he admired Rohrer Bus Sales and was excited to become a part of the team.

“I feel at Rohrer I can finally deliver the level of customer service that drives repeat business and long-term customer relationships,” he said.

Skip Rohrer said that the company’s customers “will be in good hands” with David on board.

“He’s been working with Thomas Built Buses for many years, he brings so much professionalism to the team, and I’m looking forward to working with him,” Rohrer said.
