DALLAS — A school bus driver here made Christmas extra special this year for the elementary school students he drives by giving them each a gift they had asked for.

Curtis Jenkins, a school bus driver for Lake Highlands Elementary School, asked every student on his bus what they would like for Christmas, and then saved some of his own money as well as used some that he received from members of the community who found out about his plans, according to ABC News. Jenkins bought a total of 70 gifts. The students discovered them when they were picked up from school on Dec. 21.

Jenkins told Good Morning America that he and his wife decided not to buy each other gifts for Christmas in order to help buy the gifts, and that he gave his students the presents to try to “magnify loving and caring,” according to NBC 5. He added that he is starting a nonprofit called the Magnify, Caring and Change Foundation. GoFundMe accounts have been set up to raise money on Jenkins’ behalf.

NBC 5 also reported that Jenkins, who has driven a school bus for Richardson Independent School District for the last seven years, has surprised students with school supplies, and his family bought turkeys for students’ families last Thanksgiving.

“This reminds us how much good there is in the world and how we should all strive to be a little more like Curtis,” Lake Highlands Elementary School said in a Facebook post about the gifts, which was shared over 13,000 times. (View that post below.)
