NEW YORK CITY — A school bus driver here was arrested after a student told his teacher earlier this month that he was punched in the face on the bus.

Michael Bradley, who transported students to The Ideal School, is accused of putting a 6-year-old boy in a headlock and punching him, which gave him a bloody nose, WABC reports. The incident occurred on March 3, according to New York Daily News.

The boy’s mother told the newspaper that Bradley also pinched the boy’s thigh and made him take off his shoes for the rest of the ride to school. She also said that the boy told his teacher what happened when he got to school at 9 a.m., he was questioned until 1:30 p.m., and she wasn’t notified of the incident until 4 p.m. when another bus driver called her and asked her what happened to her son. She called the school and the head of the school told her what happened, New York Daily News reports.

Bradley has been charged with assault, harassment, and endangering the welfare of a child. Bradley had previously been arrested 14 times, including once in 2015 for aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, according to WABC. His license was also suspended due to a previous DUI conviction.

The Ideal School told WABC that the bus company, Friendly Bus Services, was hired privately by some parents, and that the school does not contract with the company.
