HELENA, Mont. — Following the retirement of Maxine Mougeot in December, Donell Rosenthal has been named state pupil transportation director for Montana.

“There is a lot to learn and a lot that goes with this job, but I am prepared to learn it,” Rosenthal told SBF.

Rosenthal has worked for the Montana Office of Public Instruction for more than six years, starting as receptionist. She then moved into the position of computer support specialist in the school finance division.

In the latter role, Rosenthal also served as the backup for Mougeot, who was state director for nearly 10 years.

When Mougeot retired in December, Rosenthal took on the pupil transportation responsibilities in addition to her computer support duties. After interviewing for the state director position, Rosenthal was offered it effective April 25.

“I am glad that I got this new position, and I look forward to all of the challenges that are headed my way,” Rosenthal said. “Every day is different, and the people I work with are very nice and have been welcoming.”
