The National Association for Pupil Transportation (NAPT) has partnered with a consultancy to co-launch a new streaming service that will provide school transportation and education-related content.

NAPT ACTS! is the school transportation component of the streaming service that the association has created with the Center for Effective School Operations (CESO), NAPT announced in an email to members on Wednesday.

NAPT ACTS! will offer — both live and on-demand — keynotes, panel discussions, and workshops that feature speakers such as government policy makers; health and safety professionals; education and union leaders; and human resource professionals over the next 10 months. Users can ask questions and get answers in real time.

NAPT is also teaming up with associations that represent school boards, superintendents, business officials and other administrators, and relevant third parties outside the education establishment, to develop content.

Additionally, NAPT ACTS! will include education and training created by industry suppliers, featuring options to download product specifications, instructions and brochures, ask questions, and video chat.

Similar to Netflix and other streaming platforms, according to the NAPT’s email message, the streaming service will offer content management options that can identify for the user the “most popular” or “highest rated” content and offer recommendations. The platform will also let users create channels that focus on their interests, such as training, data utilization, or vehicle and equipment maintenance.

Instead of a conference, NAPT noted in its message to members that NAPT ACTS! should be thought of as a “home base” offering "more access to ideas and innovations, more flexibility in how you manage your time, and a variety of affordable, cost-effective education, training, and certification options.”

The streaming service is not limited to NAPT members, but association members will occasionally receive discounted rates and special content, Michael Martin, the executive director for the association, told School Bus Fleet.

The service is expected to launch in October, according to NAPT’s email message.
