The National Association for Pupil Transportation has a new executive director and CEO to lead NAPT and the NAPT Foundation into the future.

“We are excited to announce the appointment of Dr. Molly McGee-Hewitt to serve as the new leader of our association and our foundation. I join with Foundation President Steve Kalmes to express our hopefulness in the future with Molly at the helm. Our respective boards voted unanimously to confirm her appointment,” stated NAPT President Rick Grisham.

Kalmes added: “Molly McGee-Hewitt has impressed our boards as ready to hit the ground running and has the presence and skills to bring NAPT and the Foundation to new heights in the industry. We could not be more eager to see what she will accomplish with us and for our members.”

NAPT and the foundation have been engaged in a nationwide search since the spring of this year to identify a successor to Michael Martin, their long-time executive director. The appointment of McGee-Hewitt completes that search process, and the association and foundation are looking ahead to full implementation of their strategic plan and other key initiatives being developed with the new executive director.

McGee-Hewitt brings over 25 years of experience in public education and association management and leadership. She previously served in executive leadership positions with two large and prestigious educational associations, the California School Boards Association and the California Association of School Business Officials, where she most recently served as CEO.

As a professional and well-regarded association executive, she has demonstrated her expertise in member engagement, legislative advocacy, certification programs, and professional development programming.

During her tenure at CASBO, McGee-Hewitt worked cooperatively with association members to expand the membership of the association, create new certification programs, and enhance the CASBO brand. She worked closely with a Transportation Professional Council to develop an education program specifically for school transportation leaders. In addition to the management of the association, McGee-Hewitt served as the spokesperson for CASBO and led its legislative advocacy on state and federal issues.

Her educational credentials include a bachelor’s in organizational development, a master's in school business leadership and a Ph.D. in adult education and training. She has also attained Certified Association Executive status through the American Society of Association Executives. She is an author and blogger and has received numerous other citations and accomplishments.

On a personal and professional level, McGee-Hewitt has noted that her goal “will always be to empower, encourage and inspire educational leaders.”

McGee-Hewitt will formally begin on Nov. 15.
