LAKE ORION, Mich. — A school district here is now offering to parents an app that can help them track their child’s bus arrival and departure times, The Oakland Press reports.
MyStop, the free, password-protected app from Versatrans, is linked to the GPS systems in each of Lake Orion School District’s school buses, according to the newspaper. The app lets parents see the location of their child’s bus on its route in real time.
James Stottlemyer, director of transportation, energy and environmental compliance for the district, told The Oakland Press that the app works with the district’s existing technologies, and that he hopes it will help parents plan their day and stay informed, particularly when unpredictable conditions come into play, such as traffic congestion and inclement weather.
The app was recently tested at a year-round elementary school that began classes in August, and the response has been positive, Stottlemyer told the newspaper.
