LOS ANGELES — HopSkipDrive, an app-based customized transportation service for children and their families, named Toby McGraw as its senior vice president of sales.

In this newly created role, McGraw will lead public and private partnership sales and account management.

“We are thrilled to have Toby lead our sales efforts as we continue our expansion into new markets,” said Joanna McFarland, CEO and cofounder of HopSkipDrive. “Toby brings over a decade of experience in building top-notch sales teams along with a deep understanding of K-12 transportation. In addition, he brings strategic thinking, a data-driven approach, and a true passion for technology and safety in transportation. We are excited to welcome him to the team.”

McGraw brings 15 years of transportation technology experience in a variety of roles from strategic marketing, pricing, business development, and sales. He spent the last 10 years at Zonar Systems in the connected commercial vehicle space, where he worked to drive safety and efficiency among passenger service fleets with a focus on student transportation, according to HopSkipDrive. McGraw earned his bachelor’s degree in International Relations at the University of Southern California.

“I am beyond excited to be joining HopSkipDrive,” McGraw said. “There is tremendous potential to enhance opportunity for youth through innovative mobility that will complement and enhance existing transportation. This crucial mission is apparent across HopSkipDrive employees, partners, and CareDrivers. I look forward to working with the larger leadership to quickly grow the platform to other markets across the country.”

Founded four years ago by three working moms, HopSkipDrive offers rides for kids, including to and from school, sports practices, and other after-school activities. In California, HopSkipDrive operates in Los Angeles, Orange County, the San Francisco Bay Area, and San Diego. The rideshare service also operates in Denver, Colorado.

As previously reported, school bus contractor Student Transportation Inc. (STI) took a minority stake in HopSkipDrive last fall.

More details on HopSkipDrive and other companies that offer rideshare services for kids can be found in SBF’s April/May issue feature article "Students on Board: New Breed of Rideshares Provide Tech-Powered Pupil Transportation."
