JEKYLL ISLAND, Ga. — The Georgia Association for Pupil Transportation (GAPT) is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a conference that carries the theme “Learning From the Past, Focused On the Future.”
A record number of pupil transportation professionals are expected to attend the 50th Annual GAPT Conference, which is being held on Jekyll Island, Ga., June 16-19.
The milestone gathering will offer more than 100 hours of professional learning across five tracks of study. The sessions are designed to support GAPT’s mission: to “build capacity in pupil transportation professionals by providing information, promoting innovation and serving as an advocate.”
Members will be able to tailor their learning by attending sessions most closely aligned with their job function and the common goal of protecting all student passengers.
“Our children are our future,” GAPT President Pat Emfinger said. “We must equip our colleagues with the tools, knowledge and support to protect our future.”
The conference will also include a trade show with more than 80 companies; a business meeting that will include board member and officer elections; and recognition of driver and technician competition winners.
