ALGONA, Iowa — The Globe Gazette reports that bus driver Dan Danielson, who is also the transportation director at the Algona Community School District, allegedly left Logan Cavin, a 4-year-old student, on a school bus for several hours on the morning of Dec. 19 and was expected to resign.

Cavin was discovered at the school district's transportation facility at about 1 p.m. by another bus driver. The bus he was riding on had been left unlocked outside the facility since about 10 a.m.

Kossuth County Attorney Todd Holmes told the Gazette that after he reviews the investigation conducted by the district, he will determine whether to press charges.

Superintendent Marty Fonley told the paper that the district would take steps to prevent future similar incidents. He added that the bus in question is equipped with a device that requires the driver to walk to the back of the bus to hit a switch, prompting the driver to make a check of the bus in the process.
