LEBANON, Maine — State police are investigating a hit-and-run accident that occurred earlier this week, allegedly by someone driving a school bus. 

"It was reported to us that a 1996 Buick Century was traveling eastbound on Carl Broggi Highway at about 45 mph when a school bus allegedly struck the rear end of the car, pushing it off the road and into some brush," Jason Cole, assistant rescue chief for the Lebanon Rescue Department said in a statement. "The school bus continued on toward Sanford on Carl Broggi Highway and did not stop. The Buick was able to drive to the rescue station parking lot and call for help."

Foster’s Daily Democrat reports that the occupants of the Buick, a 65-year-old woman and a 55-year-old woman, sustained minor injuries in the crash, but they did not require transport to a hospital.

Cole went on to say that state police have contacted a local school district. The district did not have school buses in the area at the time of the crash, so police said they were unsure if the school bus involved was a passing bus or a retired school bus.

"There were a few state troopers down in the area looking for the bus with front-end damage," Cole added.
