WESTBROOK, Conn. — The Day reports that Rich Willard, owner of Vintage Motorcars, a restoration business, is restoring a circa 1948 Nash school bus for a Paris-based collector of Nash vehicles. This is Willard’s first bus project.  

The bus was brought to Connecticut after it was found near a farm in Minnesota, where it had been abandoned. An Ohio member of the Nash Car Club of America discovered the bus in 2010, shortly before it was to be sold as scrap, and painted its red exterior with the more traditional yellow.

The restoration likely will take more than 3,000 man hours to complete and will cost in the $150,000 range, Willard told the paper. He also said that the biggest challenge in completing the project will be conducting research to figure out how the bus looked when it first came off the assembly line.
