Here, we share photos submitted to us from pupil transportation officials around the country of buses from the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.
Kirk, I know that both GMC and International Harvester both made engines for the RE's The gmc was a V 6 and was a gas burner. IH also made an engine V8 gas burner. It was loud as hell it originally was designed to go in a combine. The GMC chassis was more quiet and was faster. The mechanics cussed the IH but liked the GMC. I would like to get a picture of one of these guys.
looking for a certain early 60's Blue Bird all American RE.
It wasn't a V-8.
It sounded like a an older Cummin's Diesel V-6.
could it have been a Large Gas V-6???
don't think so.
I kmow the tranny was a 5 spd , or split 10 spd,\
