Retrofit project designed for Minnesota school buses
MINNEAPOLIS — Officials said that Project Green Fleet is reducing the amount of exhaust emitted by the state’s school buses. The program, which brings together businesses, non-profit organizations and government agencies to retrofit older school buses, has installed emission-control equipment on 500 buses thus far. Timber sales help Michigan district fund expenses
LEROY, Mich. — Pine River Area Schools recently sold more than 20 acres of timber from its 651 acres of red and white pine trees to help fund the purchase of a 2009 school bus. The district’s Sustainable Forest Management Plan — which was developed as part of its participation in the American Tree Farm System — enables it to use money generated by timber sales for purchases and facility improvements.
