SCHENECTADY, N.Y. — Transportation management solutions provider Transfinder has published a new book by industry veteran Dan Roberts titled "Best Practices in Student Transportation."

Company officials said that the book is designed primarily for district personnel who are responsible for student transportation but also is invaluable for district business managers and human resource directors responsible for budgets and personnel.

In her review of the book, Gwendolyn Santiago, executive director of the Texas Association of School Business Officials, said, "It is a must-read not only for chief finance officers, but also for chief operations officers and human resources directors. Dan was recognized as one of the best school transportation directors in the nation for a reason. He knows his stuff! Fortunately, he is always willing to share his expertise with others, and this book is evidence of that."

In his foreword, Transfinder President and CEO Antonio Civitella writes, "We applaud author Dan Roberts, who brings his more than 40 years in school transportation to the content in this book."

Commenting on why Transfinder published the book, Civitella added, "It is our hope that as transportation directors study its content and incorporate the best practices recommended in it, their transportation operation will benefit and they will add even greater value to their districts."

Roberts, who is Transfinder's director of professional services, writes in his preface, "This book is a collection of strategies that have proved successful in districts across the country. The concepts were developed through years of dealing with issues and seeking better ways to operate transportation departments.

"I hope that once some of these strategies are adopted, they instill confidence in all who are committed to excellence in the industry that they are on the right path to success," Roberts added.
