ATLANTA — On Wednesday, Claudette Peters was arrested for battery after police said she struck a boy on a school bus several times, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
After walking with her grandson to his bus stop, Peters boarded the bus to talk to the driver about a student who had a fight with her grandson Tuesday, police told the newspaper. She spotted the 10-year-old student, ran down the aisle to him and hit his face and neck a number of times before the bus driver was able to intervene, according to the police report. Peters then left the bus and walked toward her home. The bus driver called 911 and police arrested Peters at her home.
The police report said the boy was taken to the hospital, treated for minor injuries and brought to school, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Peters was booked into the Fulton County jail on battery charges and was granted a $5,000 signature bond Thursday morning, a jail spokeswoman told the newspaper. Her next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 2.
