School bus sales drop for fourth year in a row

In the 2010 sales year, 31,194 school buses were sold in the U.S. and Canada, down about 13 percent from the 2009 total and 34 percent from the 2006 total.

Pennsylvania DOT changes diabetic regulations for bus drivers

Among the revisions is the requirement that in order to receive a diabetic waiver, a school bus driver’s healthcare provider must verify that the driver has had no severe hypoglycemic reactions or symptomatic hyperglycemia, and that the driver has been free from an insulin reaction that has resulted in a loss of consciousness, attention or awareness, or has required assistance from another person.

Cell phone ban proposed for truck, bus drivers

Federal rule would prohibit interstate commercial truck and bus drivers from using hand-held cell phones while operating a commercial motor vehicle. The restriction would apply to school bus operations by private operators in interstate commerce, according to the proposal.

New Mexico receives funding to help maintain bus routes

McKinley and San Juan counties will share $561,000, which was released by the U.S. Department of Transportation and made available through the Indian School Bus Route program. The money will be used to improve roads within or that lead to reservations and serve as school bus routes.
