21 charged with cheating on CDL exams

Wednesday's arrests in the New York City region are part of an ongoing investigation into a commercial driver license test cheating scheme first revealed in September. The Manhattan district attorney says that the 21 defendants "are accused of fraudulently obtaining specialized licenses, putting at risk the lives of everyone who shares our roadways.”

Durham takes over Atlantic Express' Philadelphia operations

Update: Indiana gov. signs bill on bus funding losses

The bill, signed into law last week, is designed to give flexibility to school districts facing transportation budget reductions. The legislation allows districts that have lost at least 10% of their transportation fund levies due to property tax caps to use money from other funds to pay for transportation through 2016.

California district pilots electric drive system on bus

Escondido Union High School District is testing the ElecTruck Drive System from TransPower for one month. The system has been retrofitted on a Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner HDX unit, and Director of Transportation Robert Berkstresser says data being tracked during the pilot period include the battery stability, motor efficiency and the reserve percentage of energy after a route.
