What started as an everyday argument between two teens escalated into a stabbing incident aboard a Broward County (Fla.) Schools bus, with one youth suffering serious injuries. The incident occurred at approximately 3 p.m. on March 20 when the two teens began arguing about a girl, according to witnesses. One of the teens, a high school sophomore, used a knife with a four-inch blade to stab the other, inflicting four wounds, one of them serious. The teen victim, identified as John Lewis, was treated at a Broward County hospital and released later that evening. As the incident unfolded, students stampeded off the bus, fearing that the assailant would go on a stabbing spree. Witnesses said the suspect calmly exited the bus, uttered some expletives, folded the knife and walked home. Police arrested the youth at his home and questioned him regarding the incident. The suspect, who was not identified by police because he is a minor, refused to answer any questions without the advice of an attorney. He was charged with aggravated battery and spent the night in jail. The case is being investigated.
