LAKEVILLE, Ind. — Four students here suffered minor injuries after a motorist crashed into the rear end of a school bus on Monday morning, police said.
The crash happened around 7:51 a.m. on the eastbound side of Pierce Rd., according to a news release from the Indiana State Police. The Union-North United School Corp. bus, driven by Laura Watts, stopped and picked up students at a bus stop, and as Watts advanced the bus from the stop, it was struck from behind by a Ford Expedition driven by Lee Motz.
Of the 20 students on board the bus, police said four were injured — two 9-year-old boys, a 5-year-old girl, and a 15-year-old girl. All were treated and released for minor injuries. Motz was taken to another hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, according to police.
The crash still remains under investigation, but police said that alcohol or drugs did not appear to be a factor.
