LaHood to speak at 'Love the Bus' event

Outgoing U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood accepts an invitation to serve as the lead speaker at the American School Bus Council’s main “Love the Bus” event at an elementary school in Arlington, Va., on Feb. 12. It will mark the second time he has participated in a Love the Bus celebration — the first was in 2011 in Takoma Park, Md.

LaHood to step down as transportation secretary

Ray LaHood announces on Tuesday to the employees of the U.S. Department of Transportation that he will not serve a second term, but he says he will stay on until his successor is confirmed. LaHood showed support for the pupil transportation industry during his term, calling for funding of a program to promote the benefits of yellow buses, attending industry events and taking on such issues as distracted driving.
