Dale County Schools Superintendent Donny Bynum, who accepted the award on behalf of Poland’s family, says, “Not a day goes by that I don’t think about Mr. Poland and what he did. Outgoing U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood accepts an invitation to serve as the lead speaker at the American School Bus Council’s main “Love the Bus” event at an elementary school in Arlington, Va., on Feb. 12. It will mark the second time he has participated in a Love the Bus celebration — the first was in 2011 in Takoma Park, Md.

Ray LaHood announces on Tuesday to the employees of the U.S. Department of Transportation that he will not serve a second term, but he says he will stay on until his successor is confirmed.
