School bus driver John Fothergill and Peter Lawrence of Fairport (N.Y.) Central School District were among the honorees at Sunday's NAPT awards banquet. During Monday's celebratory breakfast, this year's "America's Best" school bus technician and inspector were among the individuals recognized for their achievements.

Their emission-reduction capabilities range from 20 to more than 90 percent, and they can be applied to a variety of engines and school buses.

IC Bus prices to rise in September

Citing soaring commodity costs, the manufacturer will add a surcharge of up to $1,495 to the prices of its school and commercial buses. IC Bus President John McKinney says that the company has been able to absorb some increases through manufacturing efficiencies, “but we could not absorb them all.”

New leader of school bus business at IC Bus

Dennis Huffmon is named vice president and general manager for IC Bus U.S. and Canada, a role in which he will lead the company’s school bus and commercial bus businesses for these countries.

Summer session of IC Bus University scheduled

The school bus manufacturer’s maintenance training program will be held the week of July 25. School bus technicians will be provided with up to 42 hours of instruction on such topics as bus maintenance, engines, bus electrical, air conditioning and paint maintenance.
