Ohio EPA awards $277K for pollution-control technology

Eight school districts in the state receive a total of $277,885.53 in grants to install diesel oxidation catalysts and anti-idling equipment on their school buses as part of the agency’s Clean Diesel School Bus Grant program. The next grant application deadline is March 1, and priority is given to applicants in areas that do not meet federal air quality standards for fine particulates.

Motorist in bus-passing incident must wear ‘idiot’ sign

Bill would set inspection standards for wheelchair lifts

Under the Ohio legislation, the rules adopted and enforced by the state Department of Safety would require that each lift installed on a vehicle used for pupil transportation be inspected by a person certified by the lift’s manufacturer. Ohio district maintains county’s EMS vehicles

Gallipolis City School District partners with Gallia County Commissioners to service the county’s five EMS vehicles and one rescue truck. Ohio recognizes school bus drivers statewide

May 7 is School Bus Driver Appreciation Day, and Ohioans are reminded to show their support for these individuals. Officials say the state Legislature designated the first Monday in May as School Bus Driver Appreciation Day to “increase public recognition of the important function that school bus drivers serve in safely transporting children to and from school.”
