REMINDER: Study seeks to improve wheelchair transport safety

School bus drivers and attendants are asked to share their experiences in a survey being conducted by university researchers. The outcome is expected to help bolster the safety of wheelchair-seated students by identifying needs for improved technologies, standards and training. The survey, which was announced in March, will close at the end of this month.

Alberta Provincial Court Judge Bruce Fraser says as much, and makes recommendations about these issues, in his report on an October 2007 school bus accident that killed a 9-year-old girl. Sleeping pills and anti-depressants were at low levels in bus driver Louise Rogers' system on the day of the accident.
