As the head of product engineering, Mack-Askew leads the testing and compliance, trim and equipment, research and development, and mechatronics organizations of Thomas Built Buses. She oversees and manages the company’s engineering division and leads the team responsible for developing innovations and technologies for Thomas Built school buses.

“Tracy has brought so much to Thomas Built Buses in the two years that she has been with our company, and this award is most certainly well deserved,” President and CEO Caley Edgerly said. “She is an innovator, a mentor to her entire team, and a huge advocate for giving back to our community. Under her leadership, we debuted our new BusWise Technologies, which included a suite of new technologies, and her team currently is working on additional innovations.”

In addition to her work at Thomas Built, Mack-Askew is a reading buddy at Oak Hill Elementary School in High Point and a mentor through the Queens Foundation, where she works with young women who will be the first in their families to go to college.

Mack-Askew’s achievements include patents for a number of innovations developed while she was at General Motors, and others are in development at Thomas Built Buses.
