PINEVILLE, N.C. — Specialty Manufacturing Inc. has completed the purchase of Detroit-based bus components supplier Transpec Worldwide Inc. Terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Since June 2006, Specialty Manufacturing has also partnered with private equity firm Century Park Capital Partners and Pretoria Transit Interiors. Headquartered in Pineville, N.C., Specialty Manufacturing is a supplier of safety components, lighting systems and accessories to the school, transit and commercial transportation markets. Transpec Worldwide, located in Sterling Heights, Mich., is a designer and manufacturer of bus components and systems for the school bus and commercial transit bus industries. The company was founded in 1974 by industry veteran Ronald Lamparter.
