Special-needs students rescued from flooded school bus

Four special-needs students and two adults were rescued from a bus caught in floodwaters caused by a severe storm in Texas. Meanwhile, three students and two adults were rescued from another flooded bus in the area, and no injuries were reported.

BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — First responders rescued special-needs students aboard a school bus and students on another school bus that got caught in floodwaters brought by a severe storm last week, The Weather Channel reports.

The Bexar County Sheriff Twitter page reported a total of four special-needs students and two adults being rescued from a flooded bus on Scenic Loop Road, with all students safely evacuating the bus and receiving medical help.

The bus was headed to Los Reyes Elementary School at about 7:10 a.m. when it became stuck in high waters, according to the San Antonio Express-News.

Additionally, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office told the newspaper that the Grey Forest Fire Department rescued three students and two adults from another flooded bus in the area. No injuries were reported.

The flooding was caused by a storm system that hit much of the state and brought tornadoes, according to The Weather Channel.
