GREEN BAY, Wis. — A special-needs student here has suffered severe bruising on her arm after being bitten multiple times last week by another student on the school bus, according to WBAY.

Ten-year-old Lillian Waldron’s parents told the news source that when she got off the bus she was crying and holding her arm. Lynn Waldron-Moehle, the student’s mother, told WBAY that she had first noticed the bruises on her daughter’s upper arm while she was preparing to give her a bath. She added that her daughter is developmentally delayed, has mannerisms of a 2-year-old, and cannot speak.

Chad Waldron, the student’s father, told the news source that his daughter was traveling on an all special-needs school bus at the time, and that her seat was right behind the bus driver. Her mother also said that she was in a five-point harness car seat.

A representative from Lamers Bus Lines, which serves Green Bay Area Public School District, told WBAY that they have video cameras on all of the district’s buses and that bus drivers are allowed to intervene if an altercation occurs. However, the Waldrons told the news source that this isn’t the first incident involving their daughter on the bus, and that last year they believe she was completely undressed by a male student on the bus and touched inappropriately. They added that their daughter will now be riding in a van alone with two adults to and from school.

Michelle Langenfield, the superintendent for Green Bay Area Public School District, said in a statement obtained by the news source, that she and several administrators met with Waldron's family “to address their concerns and provide supports to ensure the physical and emotional well-being of our student.” She also said that the district is conducting an investigation into the incident, and will be working with Lamers Bus Lines to prevent situations like this from occurring in the future.
