Peggy Burns, Pete Meslin launch new blog
Burns, of Education Compliance Group, and Meslin, of Newport-Mesa Unified School District in California, say they hope their “Clearance Lights” blog will “stimulate identification of ideas, problem areas and solutions among school transportation professionals.”
Noted pupil transportation presenters Peggy Burns and Pete Meslin have created a new blog that they said will be a departure from their more formal in-service topics.
Burns is president of Education Compliance Group Inc.; Meslin is director of transportation at Newport-Mesa Unified School District in Costa Mesa, Calif. Their “Clearance Lights” blog is at www.clearancelights.net.
The duo said they hope to share observations that are “relevant enough to stimulate identification of ideas, problem areas and solutions among school transportation professionals.”
Already posted are the topics “Being new and ignorant” and “Integrity — will you answer the call?”
“Such upcoming posts as ‘Fail your way to leadership,’ ‘Perseverance — a message to Garcia,’ and ‘The truth is stranger than fiction’ will, we hope, provoke your own thinking and push against the apparent limitations of your professional experiences,” Burns said.
Burns and Meslin are friends and colleagues. As Meslin noted, “We frequently enjoy invigorating conversations with each other. This blog offers us the opportunity to expand those conversations with fresh perspectives from our friends.”
The blogging pair said that they invite transporters at all levels of the operation to join the conversation on “sometimes unusual and frequently provocative topics.”
