LATHAM, N.Y. — The New York School Bus Contractors Association (NYSBCA) is holding its 63rd annual convention next month, and will share information on the Volkswagen settlement funds, among other topics.

The 2017 NYSBCA convention is planned to take place from Oct. 13 to 15 at The Marriott Courtyard Hotel in Lake George.

According to NYSBCA, the convention will inform school bus contractors and their staffs about industry best practices. Attendees will also be provided a comprehensive overview and update from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation about the Volkswagen diesel emissions mitigation settlement’s potential impact on the school bus industry. Sessions will also cover topics such as school bus safety and technology, new road tests, and driver retention.

Attendees will also hear about the most recent legislative and regulatory developments from Albany and Washington, D.C., including New York’s new EpiPen law, New York’s Paid Family Leave Act, illegal school bus passing, stop-arm cameras, the employment cost index, and sales tax exemption for school buses.
