Wheelchair securement solutions supplier Q’Straint has plans underway for more training and a program to recognize those who go above and beyond in transporting people with special needs.

Q’Straint expects to launch “Securement 102: Securing Difficult Mobility Devices for School Transportation,” its new online training course, this spring.

The course will review basic mobility device securement principles and share troubleshooting practices for situations in which achieving those principles is difficult or impossible, according to the supplier’s website. The course will also cover significant advancements in securement equipment, wheelchairs, and regulations that have the long-term potential to alleviate securement challenges.

In addition, the course will include some information from the difficult to secure chairs training section of Q’Straint’s Virtual National Training class.

Meanwhile, Q’Straint’s new "Sequrement Heroes" campaign, which launched on Jan. 1, is designed to thank transportation employees in the school bus, paratransit, public transit, and personal mobility industries who go above and beyond to properly secure passengers using mobility devices.

With the campaign, Q’Straint is aiming to raise driver appreciation and acknowledge the difficulties they currently face in light of the pandemic.

“We see real-life heroes taking us to work, school, grocery stores, medical appointments, and all points in between, and we want to acknowledge all those in helping us fulfill the Q’Straint mission of ‘Making Safety Accessible,’” Patrick Girardin, co-president of Q’Straint, told School Bus Fleet.

The campaign is designed to highlight a transportation employee as a hero and the securement products they use as their "sidekicks."

The Benefits of Implementing the Latest Wheelchair Securement Standards

Anyone can submit a nomination and the program is expected to run at least through mid-2021. The nominees will be featured on Q’Straint’s website, social media pages, print and digital ads, and newsletters and will receive exclusive giveaways accompanied by a thank-you card from Q’Straint.

Submit a nomination for a Sequrement Hero.
