SOUTH BEND, Ind. — In an effort to be more visible to students, the new superintendent for the local school district rode the bus with them on Wednesday, the first day of school, WNDU reports.
Dr. Kenneth Spells, South Bend Community School Corp.’s new superintendent, told the news source that he plans to be visible to students and to meet with parents to find out what can be done differently in the district.
Spells also told WNDU that the first day of school is “always special. It’s kind of like our Super Bowl,” and added that he was “very excited” about his first day with the students at the district.
